The news channel and the newspaper Al-Jazeera were and are partly funded by the Qatari government.
The Qatari government generally has good relations with China, but this does not stop it from denouncing the clearly proven brutal and cruel oppression of the Muslim minority in China, the Uighurs, by the Chinese government and from publishing corresponding articles.
